Northern Lights Tour - South of Iceland

backlit-bright-clouds-414578.jpg

Welcome to your Northern Lights Tour in Southern Iceland!
After your arrival in Reykjavik, you will be welcomed and brought to Reykjavik.

On your first day in Iceland, your first destination is the Pingvellir National Park, which is historically and geologically very interesting. Here the coexistence of the Icelanders was regulated, laws were passed, and courts were held. The last time the Republic of Iceland was proclaimed here was in 1944. At the Almannagjá fissure, it is easy to see how the Eurasian and American continental plates have drifted apart.

The next destination is the well-known geyser area in the Haukadalur valley, where the geyser, the namesake of all the world's springs, is usually at rest. Still, the smaller spring Strokkur regularly shoots a hot fountain of water into the sky.

Nearby is the Gullfoss - the golden waterfall - which falls in steps down into the canyon of the Hvítá River.

Dinner and overnight stay this night and the next at a farm hotel in southern Iceland, where the conditions for observing the northern lights are ideal.

On your third day, you will drive to the south coast. The journey continues to the southern tip of the island to Vík. The headland Dyrhólaey is approached so that you can get your impression of natural beauty. Dyrhólaey is a bird sanctuary where thousands of birds have their nesting places. But also in winter, the cape with its bizarre rock formations has an extraordinary charm, and especially the striking hole in one of the rocks fascinates the observer.

If you have booked a glacier hike, the program component at Vík is omitted (it takes place during the glacier hike).

On the return trip, the group picks up the glacier hikers and thus has the opportunity to experience the proximity of the glacier for a short time.

On the way back to the hotel, the two waterfalls Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss are visited together.

On your fourth day, you will leave in the morning for the capital Reykjavík, where a city tour will take place.

Afterwards, you will have time that you can use at your disposal in the city.

In the late afternoon drive to the Blue Lagoon, where you can take a bath in the warm water (entrance fee not included, approx. EUR 40)

After this relaxing last program point check-in at the hotel near the Blue Lagoon. Dinner and overnight stay there.

On your last day, after breakfast in the early morning hours, transfer to Keflavik airport. Then you will return home.
